EXECUTIVE AND GENERAL MANAGEMENT

Chief Operating Officer (ref. #603) - An established $15M multi-division fully integrated manufacturing firm located in Southern California with a large machine shop, electronic assembly, die casting, and plating, serving a diverse customer base with build-to-order products. Products range from electrical fittings for the aerospace, military and commercial markets to custom assembly projects for industrial and military customers. Our client's competitive edge is service, delivery and price.

Our client seeks a candidate to assume the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) immediately and to earn the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) role in 1 to 3 years. The successful candidate will be committed to the tasks at hand and will make a financial investment (under contract) to the business.

The Company began as an industry leader in the design and manufacture of products for mostly military, and some industrial and commercial markets. The business is in transition to achieve a balanced military, commercial, and industrial revenue mix. This is a job shop. Customers have learned to depend upon: on time delivery, competitive pricing, superior design capability and uncompromised quality.

Our client seeks an individual with a strong manufacturing background and general management expertise. This is not a staff or strategy position; this is a hands-on position with a strong operations orientation. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that he/she can add value based upon their knowledge, attitude and managerial capability.


SALES AND MARKETING

Director Business Development (ref. #608) - Our client, a diversified high technology company founded in 1963, produces state-of-the-art RF and Microwave Subsystems and Components for vital military and innovative commercial applications. Products include adaptive Interference Cancellation Systems (ICS), antennas, low noise amplifiers, precision signal sources, frequency multipliers and various signal processing subsystems.

This newly created position reports to the Vice President of Engineering & Business Development and will actively participate in the business development activities for the applications of the Company’s Interference Cancellation products, will interface with the Company’s current and potential international and domestic customers for military and commercial sales and will be responsible for developing new commercial revenue opportunities for the Company.

The successful candidate will have worked in a complex RF and/or microwave systems environment and will be experienced in the disciplines necessary to effectively sell the Company’s products into the targeted markets - most notably prime contractors. At least 10 years of experience in project development and marketing. This experience could have been acquired in either the commercial, military civil service or the military workplace and will be combined with proposal development experience.


Western Area Director (ref. #618) - Our client couples one of the world's largest on-line databases with state-of-the-art document services to provide unparalleled information support to banks, financial services companies, corporations, law firms and government agencies across the nation. The Company's unique blend of public records, investigative services, courthouse documents, and UCC filing services are used to obtain background data about businesses, locate assets and people, retrieve official public records, secure financial interests and complete commercial transactions.

Reporting to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, the Area Director is responsible for managing a field sales organization selling to major accounts and financial services companies.

The Area Director, West is one of two area managers covering the country and has responsibility for account coverage for major accounts in the western and mid-western United States. Our client seeks an individual with 10-15 years of business experience with 3-5 years in field sales management. Ideally the experience will have been in sales and sales management of services and products to the financial services market, specifically the banking, leasing and financing marketplace. The sales experience needed calls for large dollar sales (over $500K) of complex, solution oriented services or products. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record in the intricacies of pricing, negotiating and closing large dollar volume business, will have creative selling skills, will have budget management experience and will have the maturity level to lead and motivate a seasoned sales force as well as hire and coach younger sales people. The candidate will have the leadership ability to successfully orchestrate the proposal process: balancing pricing, technical, operational, and sales issues to deliver the business.


Senior Account Executive(s) (ref. #606) - Our client, founded in 1968, with sales of $1.6 Billion in 1996, and more than 4,200 employees worldwide, is the third largest distributor of electronic components in the world. The Company operates in eighty market centers in the Americas, Europe and Asia/Pacific. The Company specializes in semiconductors and also carries an extensive range of passives and electromechanical components. The Company carries over 50,000 products from 200 suppliers.

Reporting to a Group Sales Manager or General Manager in a geographic area, the successful candidate(s) will be part of a rapidly growing team of Sales and Technical Account Executives located in strategic cities throughout North America. (There are multiple positions available).

The Senior Account Executive(s) are directly responsible for the proper execution of all sales activities for 25 assigned accounts in a given geography.

Our client seeks individuals with 2-5 years direct sales experience in the electronic component distribution industry. A successful track record as an inside sales representative would be ideal. Candidates will be team oriented, self motivated, hands-on sales people who will thrive in a growing dynamic environment.

Candidates will also have strong organizational, administrative, and time/priority management skills. A professional business image and presentation skills are a must. Successful candidates will be aggressive with a strong work ethic. A college degree is preferred.


FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING


INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Business Analysis Executive, Managed Care (ref. #602) - Our client is a holding company with wholly-owned insurance subsidiaries in the business of writing workers' compensation insurance; reinsurance; annuities; health; and auto, homeowners, farmowners and other coverages. The Company also conducts real estate operations. Their revenues in 1995 were $519 million. This business is conducted in California, Texas, Arkansas, Illinois and Utah, and is expanding to Florida and Pennsylvania with the intent of expanding nationwide.

Reporting to either the Chief Information Officer or the Vice President, Systems Integration, the Business Analysis Executive, Managed Care, a newly created position, will have a Product Management organization for HMO, Claims and Medical Providers. The Business Analysis Executive, Managed Care is responsible for the management and coordination of the re-engineering efforts already underway to improve the information processing of the client related organizations of Claims and Managed Care for the National Workers' Compensation business. Supervise and manage managers whose staffs include individuals with expertise in process re-engineering, requirements planning, systems analysis, quality assurance and data administration.

The successful candidate will be a business focused professional who sets goals and objectives that reflect the true needs of the client organizations. He/she will have a proactive, enthusiastic management style, will be actively involved in the Healthcare industry, will thrive in a dynamic growing environment, be sensitive to the objectives of the business and ensure that information technology can satisfy those objectives. Experience as a successful business analyst in the insurance industry; specifically, Managed Care and the National Workers' Compensation environment is essential. An undergraduate degree with ten years of progressively responsible relevant experience with three to five years management experience is a minimum.


Manager Financial/Actuarial Systems (ref. #617) - Our client is a $600 million a year insurance company. Reporting to the V.P. of Systems Integration, the Manager Financial/Actuarial Systems, a newly created position, will have responsibility for Reinsurance Systems, General Ledger, Financial Investment Systems, and Compliance Reporting Systems with a staff of ten.

Is responsible for the research and implementation of the re-engineering efforts already underway to improve the information processing of the client related organizations of Accounting for the national workers' compensation business. Manage a staff with expertise in process re-engineering, requirements planning, systems analysis, quality assurance, and data administration.

The successful candidate will be a business focused professional who sets goals and objectives that reflect the true needs of the client organizations. The Manager will thrive in a dynamic growing environment, be sensitive to the objectives of the business and ensure that information technology can satisfy those objectives. An undergraduate degree with ten years of progressively responsible relevant experience with 3-5 years management experience in Finance/Systems is a minimum. Experience as a successful senior financial business analyst in the insurance industry; specifically, nationwide, property and casualty company would be a plus.


HUMAN RESOURCES AND ADMINISTRATION

Director of Human Resources & Labor (ref. #615) - Our client is a global provider of world-class total security solutions. The Company provides a broad array of security services and technologies to address the asset protection needs of more than 20,000 clients through 220 offices in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia.

The Director of H.R. & Labor directs a complex, comprehensive and diverse set of labor and employee relations and other human resources activities associated with supporting an outsourced contract involving over 160 facilities (50% of which are unionized), $100 million of annual revenues (1/10 of the Company revenues) and approximately 4300 direct employees. Supervisory responsibilities include: Manager Labor Relations and Special Projects, Manager, Human Resources, Labor Relations Specialist, Recruiter, and a Senior Administrative Assistant.

We seek a human resources generalist who excels at employee relations, staffing and compensation issues and who has a good labor relations background. A Bachelor of Arts degree is acceptable; a Masters is preferred. Twelve years of progressively responsible related experience in Labor and Employee Relations, Human Resources, Law or similar fields. Ability to develop, implement and monitor a comprehensive, imaginative and responsible labor relation program. Ability to function in a complex and demanding matrix organization.


ENGINEERING, SOFTWARE AND R & D

Software Localization Team (and/or)Software Localization Engineers(ref. #613) - Our client is a recently organized well capitalized and aggressive parent company of a full service language management company that is a pioneer in the application of technology and the science of project management to the art of translation. It is among the largest translation firms in the U.S. and ranks among the top 10 in the world. The strategy is to aggressively grow the business by devoting dramatically more resources to software localization. This is a very substantial market ($30B), which at the current time is a cottage industry, and has virtually no generally recognizable companies. Our client intends to become an industry leader by focusing on the language management process and will pursue an aggressive growth/acquisition plan. Establishing or acquiring a highly capable Software Localization Team is the cornerstone to their aggressive outsourcing strategy that will result in a rapid rate of growth and, with the excellent management of the Company, the corresponding profitability.

We seek talented individuals who have 3-5 years of experience in software localization and/or software internationalization. We realize this as a highly specialized and emerging technical field so we also recognize that each team member may have varying degrees of experience. We seek individuals who are successful programmers. Ideally, multiple team members will be able to refer to one or more successful assignments involving systems consulting and/or consultative relationship building with external customers, involving some phase of software localization. Projects will range in size from $30,000 to $750,000 in revenue, can involve up to 1 million lines of code and can take anywhere from a few days (consulting assignments) or last for six months to a year (full scale software localization projects). Individuals having had experience with projects involving a similar scope will be viewed very favorably. Involvement with implementation of projects incorporating FIGS (European languages), double-byte enablement (Asian languages), or bi-directional reading (Middle Eastern languages) is necessary. We seek individuals with experience in actual product launches of the localized, internationalized and translated software. Experience with "cultural assessment" of software packages slated for localization is highly desirable.


Engineering Manager (ref. #612) - Our client has been a leader in the bar code printer business since 1988 and offers a wide range of bar code printers. The Company’s products are known for their unique combination of high performance, ease of use and value. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading the design team involved with all new product development and enhancement of existing products to maintain the technical and market leadership position. Experience in the following areas is important, but not all are crucial: printer mechanisms, plastics and injection molding, geometric dimensioning and tolerance, CNC injection molding, sheet metal tolerances and design, tooling development, gear design, paper handling mechanisms, paper motion systems, paper control, tradeoffs between hard and soft tooling, progressive dies and finite element analysis. Knowledge of stepper motor design and electrical design is a plus. Given the customer driven environment, exposure to, and a track record involving, customer interface is highly desirable. A Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred.


Research Scientists, Group Leader (ref. #604) - Our client’s has a young, expanding research laboratory located in Palo Alto, California and incorporated in the U.S. in May, 1995 to provide research in software and information technology. The focus is to envision the "Document of the Future" and the "Office of the Future" and perform research into software systems and applications to support work of the future. This will involve two specific themes:

1. Empowering Documents: to enhance significantly the capability of documents by extending the media for expressing content and by attaching processing for increasing functionality and utility.

2. Empowering Organizations: to provide office software systems in which most of the computing in the preparation, management and production of documents is effectively hidden.

To address these themes there are research projects in Multimedia, Office Systems, Mobile Computing, and Software Technology.

We seek accomplished innovative and dedicated researchers from a variety of disciplines to participate in a variety of projects. We seek broadly skilled scientists and researchers (Ph.D. or M.S.) with expertise in several of the following areas: information retrieval, machine learning, Web technologies and applications, multimedia authors, communications, work-design, organizational design, sociology, digital libraries, ubiquitous computing, collaborative computing, problems of design as they relate to human behavior, natural language processing, knowledge representation and reasoning, human computer interaction, networking, how to invent or identify technologies that support communication between people, people and documents and between people and machines


OPERATIONS

Director Of Operations (ref. #614) - Our client is a 350 person subsidiary of publicly traded NYSE Corporation. The parent company has assets of $375 million (1995). Our client has delivered quality communication products to its customers for many years and has earned the reputation as a world leader in the industry. Microwave products and systems designed and manufactured by our client provide advanced communications in earth, airborne, and space segments of communications systems for commercial and military purposes. The subsidiary has four locations in which production, manufacturing and test are conducted for different products, systems and/or components.

Reporting to the President, the Director of Operations will manage the machine shop, manufacturing engineering, manufacturing planning, material control, assembly, dip braze, laser welding and associated support functions using state-of-the-art management systems. Total staff of 52 at primary location.

Prior management of machine shop, manufacturing engineering, manufacturing planning, material control, assembly, dip braze, laser welding and associated support functions using state-of-the-art management systems preferred. Requires general manager experience including interface with customers in a marketing role, as well as experience in the technical requirements and manufacturing methods of passive microwave components and systems. Must have direct knowledge of engineering disciplines and manufacturing technology involved in the manufacture of high frequency systems and components requiring dip braze and machining and have familiarity with industry standards and customer requirements associated with these types of products. This position requires at least 10 years of experience in a progression of related manufacturing capacities. A Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline is essential.


Site Materials Manager (ref. #610) - Our client is one of the world’s leading producers of soft gelatin capsules (softgels) and gelatin coated tablets (soflets). For nearly fifty years the company has been producing ethical and OTC pharmaceuticals, nutritional supplements, cosmetics, toiletries and novelties all using soft elastic gelatin.Reporting to the Vice President & General Manager of Operations, the Site Materials Manager is a newly created position based at the Company’s California facility. The Site Materials Manager will direct and coordinate a staff engaged in planning, scheduling, tracking and certifying materials and supplies.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6-8 years experience in the discipline of materials management, preferably in the pharmaceutical or cosmetic industries, with 1-2 years supervisory experience. A Bachelor’s degree in business or related field is desirable, an advanced degree would be a plus. APICS certification would be preferred.

The ideal candidate will have experience with high volume (5 billion units/year) production, with a high parts count (1600 SKU’s) in a regulated (USFDA compliant), manufacturing environment. The candidate will have a demonstrable background in MRP/CRP systems implementation, as well as direct experience with the total procurement process.


Manager of Customer Service (ref. #607) - Our client Company was founded in 1947 and has served the legal community since 1982. The Company develops and markets a comprehensive, fully integrated suite of accounting and information management software to professional service firms nationwide and in the United Kingdom.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, the Manager of Customer Services is responsible for managing three customer support groups organized around applications, systems, and dispatch. The organization has grown from 6 people to 35 in the last two years. This position is available due to the transfer of the incumbent. The Customer Services organization currently handles more than 2,000 calls a month and averages 100 new "cases" a day. Recent organizational changes have cut call back response times. New innovations allow customers to check "case" status via Internet, and will soon allow new "case" reporting via Internet.

We seek an individual with at least 7-10 years of business experience. Ideally the experience would include 4-5 years with an independent software vendor in various roles including development, product management and for customer support.
